It’s almost flu season again. Many people take advantage of pharmacy and employer-offered flu vaccinations and start getting them in August. According to the CDC the flu vaccine takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against the influenza virus infection. We urge you to wait until late September, early October before getting vaccinated to avoid the flu vaccine antibodies wearing off before the season ends. It’s best to have your vaccines in our office so we can keep records and make sure your’e receiving the best vaccine for your age/health conditions. Pharmacies and employers do NOT have access to your health records and do NOT get their vaccines from the same manufacturers every year. Most companies price shop to get a better deal, but not a better quality vaccine.
